Edith Schubert Combs was born in Kl. Jestreb, Czechoslovakia on April 26, 1932 during the volatile leading up to World War II in Germany. Her childhood and young adulthood years were extremely hard, and though not receiving much of an education, she feels she accomplished a lot in her life. Edith's husband Joe was considered her "hero" and provided a lot of love and support for her. She went to school in 1960 for American History, so she could pass the test for American Citizenship. Her greatest accomplishment was receiving that certificate and writing the memoir of her life. Edith's strength came from God and without Him; she wouldn't be here today to tell her story.
